Project Athena - Day 206 (Winter)

Plowing Through the Cold

Today's High: 0°F. Current Temperature: -7°F. Low Tonight: -15°

Shiver My Timbers! It's a bone-chilling winter's day here in Loveland. Feels like Jack Frost is biting at my nose and every other body part that is not thermally wrapped. Still, I was glad to get out of the house today among the other hypothermic citizens to do some artic errands.

The city workers who clear our roads make it possible for everyone, or at least those with a car that will start in subzero weather, to keep on motoring in this frosty world. Thank you Snowplow Drivers! I'm sure your job can't be easy and I'm grateful I get to stay home while you are plowing, sanding, magnesium chloriding and dealing with the casualties of your job such as toppled mailboxes. You are appreciated by this Loveland resident.

10°....Feels Like Siberia.

Burrrrr. Holy mother of frigid things.....Even though I agreed to embrace winter, my camera did not. She does not like the wet and cold. I tried to cojole her by wrapping her in a waterproof, ziplock baggy but that made for some slippery dials and knobs. We did manage to get a few shots off today including this one of our summer planters, waiting patiently for the spring thaw.

To all my friends living in warmer climates, I might be visiting you soon!

Icicles

I hear it's gonna be winter here in Colorado for the next week so I am gonna welcome the cold and snow, embrace it and make it my theme. I am sure that when this theme is done, I am gonna be done with winter as well.

I took this shot midday with an azure blue sky and winter's sun low in the southern horizon. The under exposure makes it look like a night time shot with stars and moons shining in the sky as the tiny water drops fall from the cycles.
