Project Athena - Day 210 (Winter)

Hey Moms, It's Snowing Again

Snow-flakes

Out of the bosom of the air,
Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare,
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow
Descends the snow.

Even as our cloudy fancies take
Suddenly shape in some divine expression,
Even as the troubled heart doth make
In the white countenance confession,
The troubled sky reveals
The grief it feels.

This is the poem of the air,
Slowly in silent syllables recorded;
This is the secret of despair,
Long in its cloudy bosom hoarded,
Now whispered and revealed
To wood and field.
— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Project Athena - Day 206 (Winter)

Plowing Through the Cold

Today's High: 0°F. Current Temperature: -7°F. Low Tonight: -15°

Shiver My Timbers! It's a bone-chilling winter's day here in Loveland. Feels like Jack Frost is biting at my nose and every other body part that is not thermally wrapped. Still, I was glad to get out of the house today among the other hypothermic citizens to do some artic errands.

The city workers who clear our roads make it possible for everyone, or at least those with a car that will start in subzero weather, to keep on motoring in this frosty world. Thank you Snowplow Drivers! I'm sure your job can't be easy and I'm grateful I get to stay home while you are plowing, sanding, magnesium chloriding and dealing with the casualties of your job such as toppled mailboxes. You are appreciated by this Loveland resident.
