Project Athena - Day 316 (Wood)

All Things Wood

This week is about all things wood. Who knows where this will take me but I am excited to focus on the beauty of wood in nature, design and architecture. That being said, I could spend an entire year just shooting wood and not get tired of the subject. Mother Nature is spectacular in this arena.

Project Athena - Day 311 (Framed)

Skylight

Viewing the azure blue sky and budding aspens through a hole in the roof of an abandon cabin made me whisper some words of gratitude for the solid roof I have over my head every night. I am sure that in its prime, this old structure was some one's saving grace and protection from the harsh elements of a Wyoming winter. Still, I bet they froze their asses off in this remote place. I hope whoever lived here was kept warm by the love of family and friends.

Project Athena - Day 287 (Shadows)

Casting Shadows

This week, studying shadows has truly been a week of studying light. In the words of Lady Gaga, “If you don't have any shadows, you're not in the light.” Several overcast days posed some challenges but I learned that I can cast my own shadows with any sort of light. I was also aware of how fickle shadows are. They come and go in a heartbeat, even when the object or person casting the shadow remains resolute. Finding a position to shoot without casting my own shadow into the frame was probably the most challenging part of this week and I realized that in life, I have often over shadowed the people I love out of my own insecurity. Huh? Hope that is in the past.

Project Athena - Day 56 (Wheels)

Spoked Wheels

There are many spokes on the wheel of life. First, we’re here to explore new possibilities.
— Ray Charles

Today concludes the theme of wheels. There have been so many awarenesses this week related to the wheel and its metaphor for life. The one that I find most profound is that we all come full circle and in that, find that there truly is no beginning or end to our essence.
