Project Athena - Day 35 (Textures, Lines and Patterns)

From the Chrysalis...

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.
— Maya Angelou

My last day of textures, lines and patterns and wouldn't you know, I end with an insect?  A very enjoyable shoot at the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver today.

I found myself smiling the whole time.

Line em' Up

Life is not a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes, playing a poor hand well.
— Jack London

Gotta say my creativity was waning this evening after a full day of designing. I still got out and to shoot though and there can be no complaining about that! Surprise, another bridge.

Multipatterned line
Tapestries and murals
Art divine
— Eyvind Earle

Did I mention that I like bridges yet? Maybe it is the peacemaker / mediator in me that finds these structures so compelling to photograph. There is a definitive path leading somewhere, in this case to the CSU Lagoon Concert tonight.

Natural Frames

Nature is so powerful, so strong. Capturing its essence is not easy – your work becomes a dance with light and the weather. It takes you to a place within yourself.
— Annie Leibovitz

I am falling in love with the golden light more everyday. Maybe I've always been in love with it and just never expressed it the way I am now.

Accelerate on the Curves

There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.
— Ansel Adams

My, how the CSU campus has changed since I graduated some X years ago. There are many new things to explore and the old buildings still hold an intrigue. Gonna have fun in this shooting playground.

This curve is a big smile!

Bridge to My Heart

When I think of why I make pictures, the reason that I can come up with just seems that I’ve been making my way here. It seems right now that all I’ve ever done in my life is make my way here to you.
— Robert from Bridges of Madison county

I love bridges because they are both literally and metaphorically about connection. For me, taking pictures is turning out to be a bridge to discovering myself, meeting new people, and exploring new places. More and more, random people are stopping to ask me what I am up to and why I am photographing something. The conversations are simple human connections and very heart opening. I find myself feeling less afraid and more excited about what wonderful connections will be made today.

I shot this last night as part of an assignment for my photo class. It feels appropriate to stretch the guidelines again and share it because....

Smiling and happy to have a new theme!!!
