Project Athena - Day 42 (Sunrise/Sunset)

A Piece of Heaven Along the Devil's Backbone

I don’t want anybody to stand between the individual and existence. No prayer, no priest — you alone are enough to face the sunrise.
— Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh

I witnessed a beautiful sunrise this morning. I am feeling my love for the morning light grow like a summer garden. Each time the alarm sounds at 4am, I am a little less grumpy and a bit more excited about getting up to go shoot. This morning's light made the short night worth it. It was healing, warm, and welcomed me to a bliss-filled day.

Front Range Sunset

Take inventory of blessings, feel grateful and be kind to one another.
— Me

Living along the Front Range of The Colorado Rockies definitely has it's perks. The days are warm and sunny (usually), the nights are cool and with brilliant stars, the insects are minimal (which is cool unless you are shooting insects as a theme), and the sunsets are gorgeous with shades of pink, red, and orange.

I particularly love the back roads from Loveland to Boulder where this shot was taken tonight. There is still farm land and open space.

These are things that make me smile.

Thank You for This Day Spirit

The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude.
— Friedrich Nietzsche

Gratitude for this day...for this life...for this camera. With a smile.

Tinman Shootout at Sundown

When a man’s an empty kettle,
He should be on his mettle,
And yet I’m torn apart.
Just because I’m presumin’
That I could be kinda human
If I only had a heart.
— Tinman from Wizard of Oz

Another rainy day in Northern Colorado and I am beginning to think I picked the "wrong" theme for the week. So here's another one from the archives....

Smiling cause I got this done early and now I get to go have a beer with my wife.
