Project Athena - Day 28 (Bugs)

Like a Moth to a Flame

The Moth don’t care when he sees The Flame.
He might get burned, but he’s in the game.
And once he’s in, he can’t go back, he’ll
Beat his wings ‘til he burns them black...
No, The Moth don’t care when he sees The Flame. . .
The Moth don’t care if The Flame is real,
’Cause Flame and Moth got a sweetheart deal.
And nothing fuels a good flirtation,
Like Need and Anger and Desperation...
No, The Moth don’t care if The Flame is real. . .
— Aimee Mann

Alas, the last day of bugs. This furry little gal (I am sure it is a female cause she was cooperative) posed for me on my very first day out shooting bugs. I know...I am bending the guidelines. Feels good though and I might just do it again.

Eensy Weensy Spider

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.
— Pablo Picasso

Tonight I saw the most amazing swarm of dragonflies performing a beautiful, whirling dance. They were flying all around me, buzzing my head, teasing me with their beauty. I asked them to land so I could capture their essence with my lens. They did not....not a single one of them...even for a second. So I enjoyed their show and got creative for my shot today.

Beetles' Piano

Make Music Not War
— Some Wise Being who I would like alot.

Can I just say that I love the Bohemian Foundation! These painted pianos are all over Fort Collins for anyone to sit down and play, (or take their picture). I live in wonderful community where the arts are important, valued and supported. Yay to Loveland/Fort Collins.

This piano is located at the CSU flower garden. So glad I didn't have to chase a tiny flying bug around tonight asking it to pose for me.

Ants Are Really Aliens

It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?
— Henry David Thoreau

Okay...so I know that ants have all of these amazing qualities that very often get touted as something that humans should aspire to, but look at this guy...HE'S AN ALIEN!

He may be well organized, share his belongings unconditionally, have super ant strength, be well-disciplined and a very cooperative team player...but he still has to live with 10,000 other ants in an incommodious space, rigorously hauling ant stuff all day long through a cramped tunnel with both incoming and outgoing traffic.

How they tell each other apart is beyond me. They all appear to be exactly the same, with exception of the queen of course. Where's the fun in that?

I think I will admire their ant qualities from afar. Besides, they bite. And excavate my patio.
