Project Athena - Day 112 (Transparency)

In the Mood

Today, I got to experience a little bit of 1940's history at the Loveland Municipal Airport. There were all things WWII at this event, including tanks, planes, surplus gear, gentlemen in uniform, Rosie the Riveter, and even a WWII battle reenactment. I think I even saw Kilroy!!

This is the nose gunner of a North American B-25J Mitchell, named "In The Mood". This plane has quite a long history. It served in WWII and has been flown onto or off of five different aircraft carries. Once retired from the military, it served as a fire fighting tanker for over a decade and then sat derelict for many years at Falcon Field until it was restored to airworthy condition in 1977. I think it has even been a couple of movies since its restoration.

I had a wonderful day of shooting today. Check out the galleries in a few days cause I am going to post some more pics from this event.
